Pre-COVID19, the Federal Department of Communications and the Arts’ reported that creative and cultural activity contributes more than $111 billion (a 6.4 per cent share of our Gross Domestic Product) and employs close to 600,000 people (5.5 per cent of the workforce).
https://www.humanities.org.au/.../new-report-presents.../ Unfortunately however, pre-COVID19 the Government had no Arts & Culture Policy, no Arts & Culture Department and no recognition of the economic contribution the arts sector make to the Australian economy.
These policy failures have now been highlighted and exacerbated by Covid19 and the Government's failed response to supporting arts workers in the Job Seeker and Job Keeper schemes.
In this webinar, our speakers will discuss their own arts practice, and discuss how arts, culture and creativity need to be a central part of building a new economy, and how NENA can play a role in supporting the arts.
